It’s Complicated
Today I created a facebook profile for Maximus. You might be thinking, “Can a dog have a Facebook account?” Why yes, if he has an email account. Which he has. You might also be thinking, “gee Carly, do you have a little time on your hands?” Actually, no. It’s called “flight from reality”. Here is what I have been up to:
A week ago I attended the SWAT Summit on advertising through social networks. It was a gathering of local advertisers, application developers and the like. We talked about how people use social networks, and how we can use them to advertise. Throughout the whole conference, everyone (dressed rather creatively, I might add) was on their iphone or Ma,c perusing the various sites that were currently being discussed or twittering, poking, adding etc. Movers, shakers, dreamers of dreams. It was a fun day…
Until I left the conference and discovered my Vespa laid out on the sidewalk – not as I had left her. Busted headlight, missing mirror, scratched everything. Someone, or something, f’d her up. No note, no witness. $500 deductible. I took her immediately to Vespa and handed her over. I moped home carrying heels in one hand and my helmet in the other. She’ll come back home in 3-4 weeks.
Last Saturday a bunch of us headed south to the Mountain Winery to see Chris Isaak. We had Dio Deka and loads of wine before hand with my buddy James before heading up the mountain. Chris Isaak wore a red elvis-style pant suit and was quite funny. Hearing him sing Wicked Game was spooky - just thinking about it sends chills to my toes. View a few of the picshere.
I’m having foot surgery (on both feet) August 15th. Simply, my feet aren’t built as well as they could be. Despite being a healthy, strong, smart being – my structure has needed modifications. More titanium will be added to correct a few stubborn little bones. I’ll go on medical leave for three weeks and basically be in bed the entire time. No Yoga. No Vespa. No walking after midnight. Nada.
Despite the busted stuff, my spirit is strong. (Thank goodness for scooter insurance, medical insurance and self-assurance).
